Monthly Archives: October 2012

With the upcoming hurricane hitting this week, is keeping the University open really worth it? Many other institutions have already canImagecelled school for Monday and Tuesday. Hurricane Sandy may cause more harm with the school open than closed. With winds gusting at maximum wind speed of 75 mph the smart thing to do would be to close the school. The numbers never lie and with more schools closing in the upcoming hours the safety of students should be put first over anything. The liability of people becoming injured over something that could of been prevented is enough of an excuse to close in the first place. With the worst the thing happening is no school, the safety and lives of others are still protected by doing so.

Each and every year the holiday Halloween comes and goes, bringing a different meaning to different people in various age groups. For children it is a time to celebrate the day and night with tons of candy and to dress up as the icon they love for a memorable night with their families. For teens and adults however, Halloween brings a whole new meaning with social events, parties, meeting new people, and anything imaginable that adults are allowed to do. This was brought up because Halloween is the only holiday where each and every person is celebrating the same holiday while being original. During Christmas or Thanksgiving or any other holiday, every one is celebrating the same type of way with no individual characteristics underneath the celebration. Halloween there forth allows us to show our unique personalities on a day where everyone is celebrating the same thing. Having fun.Image

College Habits

Every day is a different day in college with time being the biggest factor for freshman students in the current fall semester. Everyone is not an expert on mastering time coming into college which causes problems for the first few weeks. Most students make these problems in the first few weeks which can cause hassle later in the semester. Some of these problems include failing to understand the responsibility of being alone without parents which many students do not overcome very easily. It is always easier to make the wrong decision than it is to make the right one. Another problem students face is procrastination. Procrastination leads to time wasted and life long habits of putting things off. Students always face these problems because of the tendencies to do the wrong thing instead of the right. Partying and drinking seem to be more of a norm instead of studying and educating ourselves to become better individuals.
